The intervention on the banks of the river Tâmega, in Chaves, was conceived to profoundly renovate the Left Bank, an area heavily affected by flood risk, with a mixed occupation (rural and urban-historical).

This project, carried out by a consortium that gathered Quaternaire Portugal and NORVIA - Engineering, includes the following components:

1. definition of a model of occupation and urban land management regulation;

2. preparation of a project of revitalisation of the Public Garden, an integrated leisure area in the City Historical Centre;

3. redevelopment, landscape and infrastructure project to the marginal zone of Madalena and several watercourses, creating a large green and recreation area.

The implementation of the project, which included technical assistance by the consortium, was completed in 2013.
