The project comprised the identification and analysis of village tourism initiatives in Portugal, promoted under the co-ordination of the Village Tourism Association. It aimed to identify practices and solutions that create conditions of success for this kind of touristic activity.

Incorporating an approach of national and international benchmarking, these practices were classified into four types: persistence, consistency with public policies, responsiveness to the specific challenges of territories and use of innovative and appropriate instruments.

The results of the project were rendered in the following outputs: a roadmap for benchmarking, a communication strategy, a database of the analysed initiatives, a documentary for wide distribution and a Good Practice Manual.
