CIMAC main objective is the setting up of the General Project for the Évora and the Central Alentejo Tourist Welcome Center, to be installed in the current building of the Fish Market, and the Central Alentejo Interpretive Center, to be installed in the current facilities of the Museum of Art and Design, both located in Plaza 1º de Maio, in Évora. The project team must considered the Évora Interpretive Center, a municipal project, to be installed in the D. Manuel Palace, near Plaza 1º de Maio.
There was a complex working process, which involved a multidisciplinary team, the concertation of interests, objectives and expectations with the overall entities involved, including the 14 Municipalities of Central Alentejo. The Monitoring Commission, which involved several other public and private entities, has an assessment responsibility of the works.
The technical team also carried out a survey of the population of the 14 Municipalities and promotes several moments of discussion and reflection with tourist and cultural regional stakeholders
The programmatic proposals that were presented for the two Centers included their missions, the broad and strategic objectives, their functional program, valences and other specification of operating dimensions. It includes also some institutional and organizational solutions. The main schemes for architecture, graphic design, museography, content production and multimedia joined the deliverable, and also a proposal for a digital information management platform.
The team completed also a preliminary feasibility and sustainability analysis for the two facilities, their draft budgets and an implementation plan, including timetables.
The project deliverable included also a communication and signage plan for the Plaza 1º de Maio, as well as general proposals to boost the Municipal Market and to re-qualify the surrounding public space.
