The "Corredor Azul" (Blue Corridor) is an urban network for competitiveness and innovation composed by 10 municipalities of Alentejo region (Arraiolos, Borba, Elvas, Estremoz, Évora, Montemor-o-Novo, Sines, Santiago de Cacém, Vendas Novas, Vila Viçosa), which integrates 11 urban centres (each county seat and the city of Santo André in Santiago de Cacém). The study elaborates a strategy for this territory targeted at attracting new residents, an action plan (including a marketing and communication plan) to implement that strategy, a proposal of the governance model and a monitoring system called Intelligence System that integrates a set of context and result-based indicators.
Methodologically, the study is based on an analysis of the urban centres and surrounding territories built upon the factors which can influence the decision of a non-resident in this territory to live there ("should I stay ou should I go?").It combines life conditions indicators with fieldwork on these urban centres following the "accidental visitor perspective" and also incorporates the resuts of a survey adressed to residents in Lisbon and Porto metropolitan areas and of a set of interviews with new residents. The study is composed of two final reports (analysis and strategy; action programme and intelligence system).
