Technical assistance to the operations of Quadrilátero City Network

Quadrilátero Urbano is a network of cities for competitiveness and innovation, created in Portugal under the Polis XXI national policy. The cities of Barcelos, Braga, Famalicão and Guimarães, in northwest Portugal, are the members of the network.
In 2009, Quaternaire Portugal advised the municipalities in the elaboration of the Cooperation Strategic Plan for the network. The present technical assistance consists in setting up, detailing and scheduling the operations of the strategic plan in order to submit applications to Northern Regional Operational Programme (NRSF 2007-2013), including the follow-up of the process of approval of the applications.
As envisaged in the Strategic Plan, and in order to promote the rapprochement among the partner institutions and gain skills for networking, the works were developed in a participatory and collaborative model, animating various working groups called project workshops.
The operations in question, which are expected to be achieved by the end of 2013 under responsibility of a partnership that includes the four municipalities and also the University of Minho, Minho Industrial Association and Textile and Clothing Technological Centre, are as follows: (i) Quad Network, (ii ) Digital Quad, (iii) Cultural and Creative Quad, (iv) Mobility Quad (v) Urban Regeneration Quad, (vi) Business Quad. The total investment involved is about 15 million Euros.
