Strategic Plan for the Mafra Park (Tapada)

The Strategic Plan for the Mafra National Park (MNP) established the structural guidelines that should orient the mangement of this territorial unity in the next 10 years (2007-2016), assuming a renovated set of challenges and conceiving an ambitious vision to its future development. The Plan has been the result of an intensively participated process during which a diversified group of internal (cooperative members, for example) and external entities have been heard. The MNP Strategic Plan may be considered as a collective result that should be improved during the implementation process. More than a final product, the Plan is a real beginning to achieve the vision that has been adopted. In methodological terms, the Plan is supported by a deep analysis on the present situation and of the evolving trends affecting the MNP, considering the internal strengths and weaknesses and of the opportunities and Threats determined by the external environment. The result was the renovated interpretation of the MNP's mission  and a new vision for the 10 years. A new proposal of territorial model has been also presented. The setting-up of the Key Actions Programme  established the main initiatives and projects considered as necesary to implement the MNP's Strategic PLan and Vision.
