This Project consists in a 2013-2017 socio-economic development plan for a Province in Angola, in line with the Long-term National Strategy Angola 2025. North Lunda is a Province with almost 800.000 inhabitants, is a peripheral region of the country, located in the extreme northeast of Angola, on the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The field work, carried out by a team from Quaternaire Portugal and Intersismet Consulting (an Angolan partner responsible for coordinating the study) and the plan preparation, discussion and approval took place from November 2013 until May 2014.
The proposed strategy and action plan is based in two major guidelines: social and territorial cohesion - there is a persistency of social exclusion signals (education, health, housing, employment, etc.) and great social deficits and a huge inequality between municipalities - and competitiveness - conditioned by the hegemonic weight of diamond mining activity, as the main formal sector of local economy.
