The main objective of the study is to contribute to improving the quality of education and training responses within the strategies of employability and laboru market integration of older unemployed (older than 45 years). The study also aims to enhance the visibility of aging issues in the general framework of the phenomenon of unemployment.

The methodological strategy combined the general context of the study subjects, based on research findings and statistical data nationally and internationally, with a local level analysis referred to a county of northern Portugal. The following sources of information were used: literature review, statistical information analysis, consultation of experts, interviews with technician’s in the intermediary organizations of employment policies and training, interviews with unemployed people and workshops.
