The population ageing is one of the trends that marks the development of the European society and economy in an incisive manner. In Portugal, this trend is particularly strong, placing the country among the group of the most ageing countries.
The ageing workforce and the extension of the working life affect not only the workers, but also the business class.
However, the effects of these changes in the business dynamic of the elderly and in their business activity are yet poorly explored; similarly, little do we know about senior entrepreneurship, one of the policy lines within the active ageing purpose.
It’s under this framework that the AEP - Portuguese Entrepreneurial Association, promotes the Study “The Active Ageing and the Senior Business Owners”, with the main purpose of contributing to a deeper understanding of the reality of senior business owners in Portugal and of the advantages obtained with the promotion of the business activity and entrepreneurship of the elder generations.
